Saving Tips

Portugal is full of energy, we at ENREPO are too.

We all want to reduce our energy consumption substantially without giving up our comfort. We give you tips on how to reduce your energy consumption. Saving energy means using it in an efficient and intelligent way to get more output with less input..

Electricity Bill:

  • Check on your electricity bill whether your power capacity is adequate for your real consumption or whether you can have it lowered.
  • Check whether your consumption can be moved to periods when the electricity is cheaper so that you can benefit from night rates or other reductions.

Lighting:

  • Turn off all the lights are lit unnecessarily, maximizing the utilization of solar light.
  • Use fluorescent lamps (tubular or compact).  A conventional 100W lamp provides the same light as a low-consumption 20W bulb (saves 3 euros per year for each hour of daily use).

Building insulation:

  • Install good insulation in walls, floors and ceilings by the use of materials which are suitable for this purpose.
  • Use of double glazing, reducing air conditioning needs and also minimize outside noise. If it is not possible to do this you can use shutters or roller shutters.

Boiler or  Water Heater:

  • Choose a boiler or water heater that suits your necessities and install it close to where the hot water is needed, with adequately insulated tubing. Choose equipment with heat control or timer..
  • When you buy heating equipment, check that your house is properly insulated and choose equipment with adequate potential.

Air conditioning:

  • Close and caulk properly doors and windows.
  • When purchasing an air conditioner check the insulation of your home and choose a machine with adequate power.
  • In the winter, maximize solar exposure to reduce the necessity of heating and electric light by opening curtains and blinds.
